A judge has told a cold-blooded killer "I hope you die in prison", after she laughed during a statement from her victim's family.

Camia Gamet was handed a life sentence after she was convicted of killing her boyfriend Marcel Hill, in what Judge John McBain described as "one of the worst cold-blooded murders he's ever seen".

WJBK reports that Gamet, from Michigan in the United States, stabbed her former lover 11 times during a horrific attack two years ago.

As she was sentenced this week Mr Hill's aunt addressed the court, but Gamet was seen rolling her eyes and "snickering" during her statement.

She then interrupted the emotional speech to say "is that it?".

That appeared to be one step too far for Judge McBain, who intervened saying: "You're going to shut your mouth or I'm going to have some duct tape put on it.

"I hope you die in prison. If this was a death penalty state, you'd be getting the chair."

Gamet claims she acted in self defence, and her lawyers plan to appeal her sentence.

wouldn't that be a good case for a mistrial? I mean the judge was obviously partial to the victims family (i think the bitch needs to burn in hell too, dont get me wrong, just curious from a legal standpoint)

I doubt it. They could probably argue that the emotion shown by the judge was caused by the antics of the killer in court. It's not rare that judges show emotion when dealing with killers who simply don't care about what they did. Not all of them are emotionless hacks.

During the investigation they're meant to be, but this was the sentencing part. She was already considered guilty and she clearly showed no remorse during the sentencing, so I'm sure they can show whatever emotion they want then. It probably is still somewhat frowned upon though; I'm not really sure.
