Free anti virus software

Anyone reccomend any good ones as my free trials on well known ones have ran out and i got a shitty virus of a fake windows update so have had to completely restore my laptop to factory settings. Fortunately all my tunes are backed up on a selection of devices. One of which being an ipod which i want to check for viruses as its got newer stuff on when all the problems started. Any help guys cheers lads and lasses.

Avira, Avast, or AVG. Not even sure if Kaspersky is free, but if it is, that's not bad either.

I think Kaspersky isn't free, I think it has a free trial but that's it, I've seen it for 3pcs for 60$ or so...
