Former NHL enforcer Donald Brashear to try MMA

Following a story.


Multiple media outlets, including the Associated Press, have reported that former NHL player Donald Brashear is planning on fighting on an upcoming card for Quebec-based Ringside MMA.

Brashear still needs to received medical clearance to fight. He is expected to be a part of Ring 11, which takes place on June 4 at the Quebec Coliseum.

Although, he has no previous MMA experience, he did go 2-1 as an amateur boxer during the 2004-2005 NHL lockout.

The 39-year-old enforcer played for six NHL teams between 1993-2010. He is currently playing in the semipro Ligue Nord-Americaine de Hockey.

The former hockey enforcer in MMA angle, has been played before in Montreal. Steve Bosse, who played minor league hockey between 2003-2009, fought extensively for TKO and Ringside MMA building an 8-1 record.
