Hi all, it has been some time since i posted on the forum, or watched any WWE in general. I stopped watching the weekly shows, and PPV's (excluding Wrestlemania and Royal Rumble) after WM 34. The biggest problems for me (among many others) were WWE's unwillingness to build new stars, and the overly scripted, uninspired wrestlers. Which is a damn shame, because the company has never been filled with this amount of talented workers, but what does it matter when they all talk the same, and wrestle the same spots, I.E. spam superkicks and suicide dives to the point where they are more common than basic punches. The promo work is also god awful, for the most part. Every babyface sounds the same, and every heel sounds the same, plus any type of originality or character a wrestler previously had just vanishes in the vacuum of the main roster. For instance I really liked Finn Balor when he was in NXT. Sure he was never a great promo, but he had an aura about him even without the demon part of his character, he was edgy. On the main roster however he is a smiling, cringe inducing midget who only talks about how he was the first ever Universal Champion, and how size isn't everything. In the end the problems got to big for me, and I decided to end my misery, so I stopped watching Raw and Smackdown all together. Every now and again I would check out some Youtube clips that peeked my interest, but none of them were enough to pull me back.

That is until I came across the Bray Wyatt firefly fun house segments, and needless to say I loved them! The way the segments switched from cheesy to unsettling, to downright horrifying was absolutely brilliant. I can honestly say that this is the best character work I have seen out of WWE in a decade, and it reminded me why I like wrestling. You can't find this type of wacky shit anywhere else, and it wouldn't work anywhere else. It is exclusive to wrestling, and that's why I loved it so much. Major props to my man Bray for pulling off such a crazy role, he was great in every aspect. This new character is leaps and bounds above the eater of worlds shtick. Not to say that he didn't play that character great, but he took himself way too seriously, and didn't have the wins to back it up. This is much better overall, since he still keeps that serious side (which is now 10 times more scary and intimidating) while also adding a wacky side, and showcasing his incredible range in character work.

Ever since I saw these segments I have been more active in following the product, and over the past few weeks it has been improving very SLOWLY. I love the appearances of the fiend. The lightning and sound effects are awesome, and the mask looks legit terrifying. My only thought going forward is, Vince KEEP YOUR SENILE HANDS AWAY FROM THIS!

I totally agree this is one of the few things that keeps me watching WWE right now... Not much else is on that level.

I think Bryan and Bray have been doing some fantastic work. Both have great characters and they perform them fantastically. Two of the best characters in wrestling

I've checked a couple out on YouTube. It's not for me... I'm done with all the horror shit, it's not scary...

They need to do better than that to draw me back in.

I'm not in it for the horror I'm in because it genuinely explores interesting themes and develops a character. If you cant see that then you are an ostrich

Sorry Profile...

I'll use my words...

I personally think the "Mr Rogers meets Slipknot Reject" gimmick
is incredibly pathetic & I don't understand why everyone seems to
like it.

Sure its giving Bray a chance to show his "range" but that's about
the only positive I can say about it.

Also "The fiend" mask is painfully generic & there is no point to
Bray wearing a mask because we already know what is underneath.

So basically...

?

?

Because it isn't a rip off of either Mr Roger's and slipknot....

The mask represents the character of the fiend. A dangerous alter ego. Nothing to do with concealing identity. Think a mask is only used for hiding ones identity is extremely single minded.

Well I guess its not everyone's cup of tea, but it is praised by most of the fanbase, so you are definitely the odd one out in this situation bud ?.

Sorry Bell End...that's just what I see.

The mask represents the character of the fiend. A dangerous alter ego.
And he's dangerous how exactly? So far "The Fiend" has attacked
two old has-beens & Finn Balor...who is taking a vacation after
SummerSlam.

Call me when this "dangerous alter ego" does something actually
worthwhile.

Single minded?

Wait...its single-minded...

Don't you mean narrow minded?

Do you even read what you type before you post it?

And having my own opinion & not being a sheep is fine
by me Profile.

Typical contrarian
Yes...just because I dislike something "most" other
people like makes me a contrarian.

You know what...

I'd rather be "seen" as a contrarian than anything like
you Bell End.

Its worth noteing, corey talor and bray are indeed friends, so reject isnt exactly accurate, to say its generic id also argue isnt right because, lets be honest, everything is inspired by something, nothing is truely original, its what you do with soemthing and how you put your own creative spin on it that makes it new and different. Plus bray worked with Tom Savini, one of the all time greats when it comes to horror masks, think of any iconic villian, him and his team made it.

The thing is hes not trying to hide his identity, its more of a thing where its what he becomes, hes had this character in mind for years, all the way back in 2015 when WWE was doing superstar ghost stories and he talked about the man in the woods. Think of Finn Balors demon persona, we all know its him under the paint, same thing.

The Firefly Fun House has been the best thing WWE has had in years, the level of production quality and promo work from Bray is the best WWE has seen in a long time, and its unlike anything WWE has ever seen before, he does it so well and thats why people love it. Its new, its different, and Bray does it very well.

Have you actually watched Firefly Fun House? keep in mind im genuinely curious, i know you dont watch WWE, but have you watched it? or did you just hear about it?

And I would argue that the Firefly Fun House only seems like the
best thing the WWE has done/had in years because everything
else they dish up is the same recycled horseshit.

WWE fans are SO desperate for any "Glimmer of Hope" that
they will overstate how good something mediocre is.

No one gets a "free pass" from me...no matter who they are.

I came back to wrestling & the WWE in early 2016 & now
that I truly think about it...its just been a never ending cycle
of the same old shit...and by Survivor Series 2018 I decided
I will no longer give the WWE main roster any more of my time.

I will if any "real" changes are made...but that clearly won't
happen until Vince dies.

Yes...I actually watched a compilation on Youtube of the
Firefly Fun House once everyone started going on about
about how good it was.

I did not like what I saw...even if as I stated earlier it is
allowing Bray Wyatt to show some range.

The truth is I do not like it...and just because everyone
else might...doesn't mean I'm inclined to change my mind
on the matter.

The film Avatar may have made $2.7 Billion at the box office...
but I still thought it was an overrated & over hyped piece of
3D bullshit.

My opinions & perspectives are my own...with no outside
influence...& if I am disliked or hated for them...then frankly
I welcome the disdain.

Oh...& I also welcome the label of "Contrarian" as well.
