Fightful: ROH tape library going on sale to highest bidder

An update on the ROH tape library.

According to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, the Ring of Honor tape library (the Sinclair-owned archive from 2012 on) is available to the highest bidder and has been available for over a year. The tape library includes the footage to All In. AEW owns the trademark to All In, but ROH has the footage to the event.

According to the report the company is asking for much more than the current market dictates.


On Wednesday, the promotion announced on Wednesday that they will no longer be running live events, with the exception of Final Battle on December 11, until April with Super Card of Honor. Not only is ROH on a live event hiatus, talent contracts will not be renewed if they are expiring at the end of the year but those still under contract will be paid through March 31.

The company is reportedly open to working with talent to find new bookings.

I don't see why WWE gettin' a hold of it is bad. Not like they would have to cut a lot of stuff, ROH is pretty tame compared to a lot of other stuff. Maybe if Peacock sees it as not sumthin' that will make profit would be a problem in the US. I also don't want buy another streamin' service, I already have too many.

Yeah that's interesting for sure, kind of tells me he's been seeing the writing on the wall for a bit, though. Assuming the price will likely go down as he's more strapped for cash I imagine

Also realistically, who tf is bidding on this if not WWE for Peacock or AEW for an eventual streaming service? I'm dying at the possibility of Sinclair trying to get both companies in a bidding war and them both just not entertaining the starting price

As I said in another thread, Tony Khan would be crazy to pass this up. He's on the record saying he's looking at streaming services to host AEW content, adding ROH stuff would just bring more eyeballs to his own product.

Whoever gets it, it's gonna be good for the fans. I have Peacock and love going back and watching old ECW ppvs (despite the horrible music edits) so if they had ROH available too then I'm all for it.

Somehow I don't think my $800 is going to be enough to score it....
