As per Fightful - Ace Steel being brought back to the company is one of the way the deal came together. Numerous sources said that Steel’s skill set was underestimated by many they’ve seen online. Steel was seen as a valuable member of the AEW team prior to Brawl Out, as a creative mind and a coach. Originally, they were told there were heavy pitches for Chris Jericho to work with CM Punk, but they haven’t heard anything new on that for quite some time. Samoa Joe vs. CM Punk was planned at one point, they have heard it was still in the works. However, of late, word is that CM Punk has taken a liking to the work of Switchblade Jay White, and that he could be an early opponent or program with CM Punk along with Bullet Club Gold. We’re told that despite it was largely assumed that CM Punk’s return would be the May 31 announcement by Tony Khan, almost no one was outright told that prior.

likely getting a new member this week given that Ricky and Jay White are fight with FTR and Juice are banned from ringside. seems like the obvious time to strike with that play and theyve been hinting a bit.

in a serious note about Jay, he came in like 4 weeks out a ppv so I still think they did pretty good and stuck him in a good feud. If anything, Ricky is the one that could turn up the heat. It did also help a lot that this week Jay and Juice were live in the room instead of on a pre tape and I think the feud should kick into high gear give Forbidden Door is right on the horizon. FTR being involved is also always a good thing

This might also explain why FTR got brought into the program with Starks and BCG. Potentially Starks swerves FTR and we transition into a CMFTR feud with Starks and BCG.
