Welcome to the premiere of the column or opinionated post or whatever you want to call it by FlamesofFury called "Feel the Heat". In this issue of Feel the Heat I am going to discuss the saga of the Great Kahli winning the world title answer a question and do a segment that I created about one or more events that I choose. Alright, get your glasses on if you need to and begin to read.
Great Kahli wins the World Heavyweight Championship.
Yes in fact he has finally stopped beating up on the jobbers and mid-carders of the WWE and has gone on to win the World Heavyweight Championship. The World Heavyweight Championship has been held by such men as Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan, Sting, Triple H, JBL, Batista and King Booker. You would say that it has some kind of prestige to it and that it is a main title in the wrestling industry today due to being in the WWE as a part of the WCW/WWE merger of 2001.
Positives about Great Khali becoming WHC:
Great Khali was the perfect winner for the battle royal in some ways. The WWE did a great job of selling off Khali as the monster that you can't throw over the top rope in the match, he dominated and threw out about everybody in the match. My point is that he threw out half the guys in the battle royal. From a competition aspect he is the best choice right now for the title. He dominates in the ring and can really look like a dominate champion. Another part of a great thing of him being the champion is that if somebody (I don't think this will be for a while though) can beat Khali then they will get a giant (not pun intended for Khali) push due to beating this monster. This could be the one thing that separates a guy such as Matt Hardy or Finlay from being a jobber in the main event scene to really being a part of it. Chances are that Khali isn't going to drop the belt anytime soon and Undertaker looks like the prime candidate to take the title back at Wrestlemaina or even the Royal Rumble. Thus this would put Undertaker over for the last time in his career before he went into retirement. (I am relying on sources here) and finally add that one more title run to leave him going out on top.
Negatives about Khali becoming WHC:
A guy has to speak English for him, I don't even remember a time that the last time a champion in the WWE was actually a guy that couldn't even speak English on TV. That would be Ahmed Johnson in 1997 as the Intercontinental Champion (If you want to see what I am talking about then go on youtube and type in "WWF Warzone Promos" and then fast forward until you get to Ahmed and then type in "Fun with Ahmed" on youtube as well.) Khali is probably going to get this miraculous night where all the sudden he is going to be able to speak English again. Call me a person that wants all the little things to be done right but seriously I can not understand a champion never the less a World Heavyweight Champion that can't speak English. Khali has also been known and this isn't a big secret not to put guys over due to his winning streak and also not even sell moves. I don't really care if you are Bill Goldberg back in the old WCW with an undefeated streak or Funaki that never seems to get a win these days. THE POINT IS THAT YOU NEED TO SELL MOVES TO MAKE YOUR OPPONENT AT LEAST LOOK HALF DECENT AS A WRESTLER AND ENTERTAINER AND ALSO MAKE THE MATCH LOOK REALISTIC.
Overall this wasn't a terrible move by the WWE and I could keep going on and on about the weaknesses of the Great Khali but I would still be bitching if Batista won the belt. I wouldn't have minded if Kane or Finlay won the belt but I would say the grade for the move that the WWE made for making the Great Khali the World Heavyweight Champion is a:
(DRUMROLL)

Alright it's Questions time and this question will come to me from my thread entitled:
"Ask Flames....ok stupid title but anyway...."
The first question today comes from 3lions (I am such a suck up to the admins) who asked
You have to create a stable consisting of five current WWE Superstars. It must include the following:
- A ME Star
- A Midcarder/Enforcer
- A Tag Team (pre-exisiting or newly created by you)
- And a Veteran/Manager (doesn't have to be with WWE currently).
Who do you choose?
This is a good question IMO that I did not see coming and I am answering this on the fly for my column so forgive me if the answer here is a bit rough and around the edges for some of you.
Tag Team: I will go with a pre-existing tag team here. The tag team that I would choose for this stable would be The Majors Brothers. I know that we haven't seen much of them but with the in ring skills that they do have and if we could at least get some mic skills on them they would be fine. But in this stable they won't really have to do any of the talking because the people above them will be doing the talking for them. Seriously I like this team this is like the Naturals but a little bit different and the Majors Brothers really don't talk on the mic like the Naturals did.
Mid-Carder: I am going with Carlito here. This stable needs a bit of arrogance, like my main event guy that I picked doesn't already reek of arrogance in the ring but Carlito would be a fine addition in this spot for this stable. Carlito would be able to do some of the talking here and it wouldn't be a bad thing for him, he would be able to pick up a few easy wins in this position and get some what of a push to the main event scene when this stable breaks up. After the stable is done I would probably have him feud with my main event guy and the manager but Carlito would pick up a US or IC title in this position and get a type of Randy Orton push ala Randy Orton in 2003 which isn't an entirely bad thing because Orton did go on to win the title.
Main Eventer:I would seriously love him in this position because he is the complete wrestler in my opinion in the company today and that would be Mr. Kennedy. Mr Kennedy could cut 20 minute promos along with Carlito and maybe a little talking done by the Majors Brothers. Kennedy has it all he can wrestle in the ring, make a good promo and certainly lead a stable by example here in this young gun stable. This would kind of being Kennedy's way of teaching Carlito and the Majors to top their own divisions and rise to stardom just like he did. Kennedy could get a major title out of this just like he already deserves and each week he would be in the limelight and in the title picture and then eventually win the title and have a long title run until the stable breaks up and then he goes back to feuding with Carlito.
Manager: Paul Heyman. He is the best manager out there today IMO. He would be the brains behind the stable and would dictate the things that they would do, he would lead Kennedy to a WHC or WWE Championship, Carlito to a IC or US championship and the Majors Brothers to a World or WWE Tag Team title belts. Heyman can also cut promos in the spotlight like he needs to, look what he did with Brock Lesnar and then the Big Show in ECW. His heat rubs off to the other competitors and he would be a good heel mentor for this group of hungry young guys looking for a shot in their own divisions.
I think that would be a great stable for the WWE.
My second question comes from Defiant One who asked:
1. Who do you think will win the Royal Rumble?
2. Who do you think will go into WM24 as champions?
I think it is a little early for this one but here is what I think of right now.
1. To fully get the backstory to the Royal Rumble we have to explore what happened at Summerslam, No Mercy, Unforgiven and Survivor Series. Armageddon is going to be the same matches pretty much as the Rumble IMO.
My Royal Rumble winner is................Ken Kennedy or Mr. Kennedy. I think by the time we get around to the Rumble he will have developed into one of the top heels on Raw and will win the Rumble because he lost the MITB.
2.
ECW Champion: CM Punk. I don't know who is going to face him but I know that he is going to be the top star on the show and he may be a heel by this point but either way I am still holding out hope for a Punk vs Burke match.
World Heavyweight Champion: The Great Kahli. I'm sorry guys but I don't see anybody right now that is going to be able to beat him. This is going to be the result as Vince's fetish for big guys. He'll feud with Batista but keep the belt. I think that Undertaker will embark on a feud with him in this point heading into WM 24. Nobody right now is credible enough to beat him but Batista or the Undertaker.
WWE Champion: Triple H. I think he's going to win the belt back at the Rumble from John Cena. Cena and HHH will have a match at No Way Out, HHH wins by pinfall clearly and Cena either gets a break or some kind of injury (fake) to take him out of the picture. Thus setting up for a great main event match of HHH (face) vs Kennedy (Heel)
After some good questions it's time to wrap up a good edition of Feel the Heat with a little thing that nobody has used and I created.
BEST/WORST CASE SCENARIO:
Yes, I will do any event that happened in the past week and I will feature an event and give a best case scenario and worst case scenario besides the obvious best case I will give another best case. 2 events involving the WWE Smackdown here.
Event #1: The Great Khali wins the World Heavyweight Championship
Wrestler with the Best Case Scenario: Undertaker
Yes that would be the Undertaker. The only man who has ever beaten the Great Khali inside a WWE in a last man standing match back in 2006. This probably means that the Undertaker will be the man that takes the belt back from Khali. Thus meaning the Undertaker will be going out on top if he decides to retire anytime soon after winning the belt from Khali, this was of course from sources like PWI and Wrestling Observer saying that Undertaker is contemplating retirement.
Wrestle with the Worst Case Scenario: Kane
Kane just lost maybe a chance at actually being creditable in a main event feud for the title. He would have actually done some kind of damage in the match at the bash. Now all I see as the WHC match at the Great American Bash is a stepping stool for Khali to continue a feud with Batista and dominance as the Champ. Kane I'm sorry but your going to be floating around in the mid-card again.
Event #2: Rey Mysterio returns to Smackdown:
Wrestler with best case scenario: Chavo Guerrero
Chavo is going to probably have an injury return feud with Rey for causing Rey's injury which has kept him out ever since the Summer of last year. Chavo might just be jobbing to Rey in this feud and Rey wins the crusierweight title in the process but Chavo could also be having a great feud with Rey Mysterio which features some great matches
Wrestlers or people with worst case scenario: THE FANS
Haven't we seen this shit already, I don't want Rey to feud with Chavo and center this around the Eddie storyline, I am hoping that the Benoit death isn't put over like the Eddie death and maybe the WWE will stop using Eddie after what happened to Chris Benoit.
Whatever it is we are probably leading towards:
Rey Mysterio vs Chavo Guerrero for the Crusierweight Championship in a "Don't Call me Junior/Jr. match"
That closes out a great volume 1 of Feel the Heat, keep the questions coming and I'll keep the answers coming. I am on vacation from the 29th until about the 10th or 8th (rough estimate) so there will be no column next week due to my leaving and other stuff I have to finish, I hope you guys enjoyed reading this.
