Fedor Returning To Strikeforce?

LAS VEGAS – Soon, the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix will come to a conclusion, and the entire division then will be sent to the UFC.

But first, the tournament champion – either Josh Barnett or Daniel Cormier – will get one more Strikeforce fight against an opponent to be determined.

While Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said some of those options were eliminated when the UFC gobbled up a handful of Strikeforce fighters for upcoming cards, one famous Russian remains a possibility.

So could Emelianenko fight the tourney winner?

"That's interesting," Coker said. "I'm not sure what Fedor has planned. I haven't spoken to M-1. I know (M-1 executive) Steve Bash was in the audience tonight, but we haven't had that conversation yet."

While Emelianenko recently has expressed interest in competing the UFC, UFC president Dana White has cast some doubt. In a recent TMZ video, he said the former PRIDE champion "sucks," and his struggles in negotiating with the fighter's representatives are well-documented. But a win over the grand-prix champion certainly could justify a UFC contract for Emelienanko.

The man that was at one time the undisputed best fighter in the world. Was ranked number 1 in the pound for pound rankings for years, greatest heavyweight to have ever competed... he needs to have at least one fight in the UFC. That would be the perfect closure to his career. Because regardless of his 3 losses... he still had a 30 fight win streak. The guy was unstoppable. He still has somethin in the tank and he can still compete. Not saying put him in a heavyweight title fight but... high profile for sure. He needs to be in the UFC. Strikeforce is not going to provide anything for him. The only thing that will keep him from making it to the UFC is M-1.

He got eliminated in the first round and lost 3 in a row in the company, what a ridiculous idea this is.

Yea he's done, going to just fight bums in Russia and Japan until he fades into the sunset, Dana would only bring him in to fight a top guy, get some PPVs buys, and then talk about how much he sucked after he lost.

Fedor does not need to be back... I mean if he can not defeat top competition, and the fact Strikeforce is getting rid of the heavyweight division what is the point? Unless he cuts down to light heavyweight.

That is what doesn't make much sense to me, I thought that the Strikeforce heavyweight division was going as well after the tournament so I don't expect there to be a champion to fight as that champion will most likely be in UFC. It would be nice to see Fedor fight once in UFC, even if he gets smashed, just to have him finish his career having fought in the biggest MMA company. When it comes down to it Dana is a businessman and Fedor in UFC equals 1 million buys against the right opponent so if it can be done it will be done.
