Fedor Emelianenko has retired from the sport of mixed martial arts, the heavyweight announced Thursday afternoon.
The news comes on the heels of his quick knockout victory over Pedro Rizzo at today's M-1 Global event.

"I think it's time, I'm retiring from sports," Fedor stated during the post-fight press conference. "I still have the SAMBO World Championships. My family is the reason I will not be fighting again. My daughters are growing without their father, so it's the right time to leave."

He added, "There's no 'fantastic' offer that could tempt me out of retirement. I'm not obsessed with rematching Fabricio Werdum. There's no agreement for such a fight, therefore there's nothing to talk about."

If the retirement sticks, Fedor leaves the sport with a record of 34-4-0 with 1 no contest.

Don't be surprised if he comes back though. Fedor hinted that any future fights would be dictated by "God's will."

 yeah right.

Here's the results from the rest of the show

Fedor Emelianenko def. Pedro Rizzo via KO (punches) - Round 1, 1:24
Kenny Garner def. Guram Gugenishvili via TKO (doctor's stoppage) - Round 3, 5:00
Musa Khamanaev def. Daniel Weichel via submission (heel hook) - Round 1, 1:48
Jeff Monson def. Denis Komkin via submission (north-south choke) - Round 1, 1:58
Marat Gafurov def. Mairbek Taisumov via split decision
Mikhail Malyutin def. Renat Gasanov via TKO (strikes) - Round 1, 3:18

Yeah I just watched the fight on youtube... that sucked :p

Yeah he is definitely going to fight at least one more time. I mean yeah to finish your last fight by retirement is good but... that is just... horrible.

Can see Rampage taking the money to fight Fedor once his UFC deal is up. But yeah, no way Fedor is legit retiring.

Should have retired a few years ago when he was still dominant. Missed his chance to go to UFC but we will probably see him again. I agree with NMS that Rampage will probably face him next.
