Not long after MMA great Fedor Emelianenko (31-3) lost his second fight in a row to Antonio Silva on Feb. 12, an interview with Emelianenko coach Vladimir Voronov surfaced, with Voronov claiming that hypnotism or some other psychological warfare played a role.

As it turns out, that interview might not have even happened.

ProMMAnow.com contacted M-1 Global about the comments. In response, a spokesman said that Voronov, when asked about the quotes, replied:

“First of all, I didn’t give any interviews. On my way from airport one boy from the crowd came to me and asked if Fedor was Ok. I said that he was all right, he wouldn’t stop fighting in MMA. And that boy said: ‘And it seemed to me that he felt bad.’ ‘It seemed to you,’ I said. That boy was probably under impression that Fedor was hypnotized. They say a lot of stupid things. But it is ridiculous.â€

M-1 Global plans to release a full interview with Voronov with additional details on that subject and more.
