February’s UFC 170 in Las Vegas adds Alexis Davis vs. Jessica Eye
The UFC’s February card in Las Vegas will have a second big women’s bout on the bill.
Alexis Davis (15-5 MMA, 2-0 UFC) will meet Jessica Eye (11-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) in a bantamweight bout on the card, which is headlined by champion Ronda Rousey in a title fight against Sara McMann. UFC officials announced the new booking Monday night.
UFC 170 takes place Feb. 22 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The main card will air on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1. On the same card, Daniel Cormier makes his light heavyweight debut against former champ Rashad Evans.
Davis, from Canada, has won four straight fights. After a loss to Sarah Kaufman in Strikeforce, where she went 2-1, Davis won “Submission of the Night†for her win over Hitomi Akano at Invicta FC 2 and “Fight of the Night†for her submission of Shayna Baszler at Invicta FC 4. After moving to the UFC, she beat Rosi Sexton and Liz Carmouche, both by unanimous decision, at UFC 161 and UFC Fight Night 31, respectively.
Eye is riding an eight-fight winning streak that includes 3-0 for Bellator MMA. The former flyweight, who trains with the Strong Style Fight Team in Ohio, moved up to bantamweight to make her UFC debut and took a split decision from Kaufman in October at UFC 166. On her eight-fight streak, seven of the wins have come from going the distance.
