Featherweights Andre Fili vs. Max Holloway added to April's UFC 172 lineup
A featherweight matchup between 23-year-old Andre Fili (13-1 MMA, 1-0) UFC and 22-year-old Max Holloway (8-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) is the latest addition to April’s UFC 172 lineup.
UFC officials today announced the new matchup, which takes place at the April 26 event at Maryland’s Baltimore Arena. The night’s main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims that are expected to air on FOX Sports 1 and stream on UFC Fight Pass.
The positioning of the new Fili vs. Holloway matchup on the night’s lineup wasn’t immediately revealed. UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones meets Glover Teixeira in the night’s main event.
Holloway returns to action following a “Knockout of the Night†win over promotional newcomer Will Chope earlier this month at UFC Fight Night 34. The impressive victory was a much-needed result after Holloway suffered back to back decision losses to Conor McGregor and Dennis Bermudez.
Meanwhile, Fili, a Team Alpha Male product, made his UFC debut in October with a TKO win over Jeremy Larsen at UFC 166. “Touchy†Fili now boasts a nine-fight winning streak, and 10 of his 13 career wins have come by way of stoppage.
With the addition to the card, the UFC 172 lineup now includes:
Champ Jon Jones vs. Glover Teixeira for lightheavyweight title
Jake Ellenberger vs. Tarec Saffiedine
Joe Ellenberger vs. Yancy Medeiros
Andre Fili vs. Max Holloway
