Top 25 biggest moments

I am doin in the past 25 years. I'm sure not everyone will agree, as this subject could be highly conterversial.

1) Hogan vs Andre the Giant

The bodyslam heard around the world. The true dream matchup. This really set the tone for the wwf, and pushed it beyond the wrestling world into mainstream.

2) The Screwjob

Perhaps the most conterversial moment ever in wrestling history. I take that back, it was. Personally i thought it was great for everyone involved. The Mr Mcmahon character was born. Bret Hart was over headed to wcw. HBK beat his rivial and walked out the champ. It still leaves fans wondering this day if HBK and bret really hate each other, or was it all a big sham.

3) WcW Nitro Debuts

This would lead to the greatest war in pro wrestling history. WcW challenged the wwf, and dominated for almost 2 years. They stole the wwfs top talent, and started a dirty rivialry between two competiting businesses. This would be a fight for survival, where anything goes.

4) WWF buying WCW

Wow, we were all shocked as Vince bought wcw. Wcw had fallen on hard times, but was still trying to fight back with younger stars. The wwf just had too much steam and couldnt fight back anymore.

5) Hogan turns heel

The biggest turn in wrestling history no doubt. The birth of the NWO. It was an incredible moment.

6) Wrestlemania I

The Granddaddy of them all was born. A Mixture of Mainstream and Wrestling. Which would go on to produce the biggest wrestling shows of all time.

7) Austin 3:16 was born

King of the Ring 96 is when 316 officially began. A mid card heel turned into the most popular wrestler in the 90's and still is today. His rebel ways will never be forgotten as many will try and dublicate his sucess but fall short.

8) Ric Flair joins the WWF

This was a big time jump in my opinion, perhaps the biggest of all time. It let Ric Flair wrestle some dream matches in the WWF, or at least have the opportunity for some. Macho vs Flair, Hart vs Flair and the tease of Hogan vs Flair.

9) Hogan to Wcw.

I really didnt think much about it at the time. Hogan was washed up, but apparently he brought back everyone else and turned wcw into a juaggernaut.

10) WM 20

A milestone in wrestling supershows, or at least it seemed to me. 20 years and still going strong. So many moments happened the years as WM became the showcase of Immortals. Takers legendary streak, Warrior beating Hogan, ROck vs Hogan, Austin vs Rock, HBK vs Razor, I can go on and on.

11) Extreme Championship Wrestling

A Renegade company with attitude of the likes TV and Movies have never seen. Despite what some believe, they revolutionized the business, with more real characters, storylines, and hardcore matches. With ECW becomign more popular Vince lent a helping hand while they were struggling, and allowing them to cross brand with the WWF a few times.
12) Eddie's Death

.....

13) Brand Split

At a time when the wwe had too many stars to promote they split the compnay into two leagues. Similar to the American and National league like in Baseball. Some love it, Some hate it, but it allows more room for wrestlers.

14) HBK's Return

Its HBK, after taking 4-5 years off for injuries and his family, The ICon returned to the ring to win gold. He proved why he's called the showstopper.

15) Tyson Austin

Another Austin era moment, where Boxings baddest collided with Wrestling Baddest. This lead to very high ratings and great publicity.

16) Undertaker 15-0

The deadman took his career to another level when he won the world championship 15 years later. A feat that i never see being beaten. Not many will even compete in 15 wms, let alone win championships, and defeat legends like he has done.

17) Hogan vs Rock

Barry Bonds vs Babe Ruth? Or something like that. A real dream match, as two eras met head to head. The crowd was electric as these two tore the house down.

18) Y2J wins the Undisputed Championship

Defeated Austin and Rock

19) The Invasion

After Wcw and ECW folded, the wwe capitalized with the invasion angle. Some say it could have been done better, but it was memorable none the less.

20) Return of ECW

In the Summer of 2006 ECW returned with RVD and Heyman leading the charge. The old ecw is dead and the new breed is here.

21) HBK vs Bret Hart Iron Man Match

Perhaps the greatest match of all time, between two guys in perhaps the greatest fued of all time. While the wwf was in a small downward slope, these two restored the glory along with others at wm 12.

22) Vince hugs Eric Bischoff

Two enimies showing their love for the business.

23) HBK vs Razor Ramon Ladder Match

Set the trend which turned into TLC's, and Money in the Banks.

24) Owen Harts Death

...............

25) Shane Douglas Wins the Belt

Extreme Championship Wrestling was born. Shane threw out the nwa belt, and announced the change to the Extreme Championship Wrestling belt.

Hm... not bad. Maybe "Shawn Michael's Return and Death/Bankruptcy of ECW to add in. I'll think of some other stuff too tired at the moment.

Feel free to make our own list too.

I dont know about vince and biscoff being top 10.

I think Tyson Austin is probably in the 10-15 range with HBK and ECW.

First MITB wasnt realy that great, if anything the ladder match at wm 10 really set the tend on ladder matches to come.

Death of Owen hart. As sad as it was it was a big moment for those that watched and the WWE as a whole. But u were pretty spot on i think Montana. Cant think of any more at the moment

Oh yeah, Owen and Eddie. I'd say Eddie had a slightly bigger impact as he was a main event player who was getting a title shot at survivor series. IT edited it and made it 15.

Meh, I don't think Austin/Tyson is deserving, maybe like Rock vs. Hogan, probably one of the biggest matches if not the biggest match of all time. Return of NWO/Hogan back to WWE was pretty big too.

I agree with your list Montana but I would add a couple events/moments

1.)The "Real World's Champion" comes to WWF/E

2.)Even though the storyline was pretty shitty imo, The WWE/WCW/ECW Invasion was a big moment in pro wrestling.

3.)Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels Iron Man match (wrestlemania 12)

4.)Alundra Blayze throws the WWF/E Women's title in the garbage on WCW Nitro

5.)Rock vs Hogan Wrestlemania 18

and finally 6.)Curtain Call: The MSG Incident

You can't forget when Shane Douglas threw down the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and said he did not want to be champion of a "dead promotion". .That was another big moment in pro wrestling. The "first ever" Triple Threat match between Terry Funk, Sabu, and Shane Douglas is another big event(I'm not sure if this really was the first TT match or not)

edit-

Never mind the first Triple Threat match was between Farmer Burns, Frank Gotch, and D.A. McMillan it happened September 14, 1900.

I 6.)Curtain Call: The MSG Incident

Great Ideas, Perhaps i can extend this list even farther consider most everyone agrees. Whats the MSG Incident??? Curtain Call?

I thought fliar bringing the nwa championship to the wwe, surpasses alandra blaze throwin the womens belt in teh trash, although its noteworthy.

The First WWE triple Threat was HHH vs Owen vs Goldust for the IC title, in 96 or 97 on Raw. I was there live. (although they stole the concept most recently from ecw's 3 way dance, despite some people thinking the wwe didnt steal ecw's ideas)

Eddie's death not noteworthy because???? I wasn't really a eddie fan although he was a legend at the peak of his career, i can't recall any star at that level in his career past away. Owen hart was mid card for life. Although it was tragic, he certainly wasnt on eddie level.
