Mar 9, 2012 - A heavyweight fight between Fabricio Werdum and Mike Russow is close to being finalized, according to sources close to both camps. Both fighters have already verbally agreed to the bout, which is expected to take place on the UFC's return to Brazil later this year, which is slated for late June 2012.

No exact date or location has been finalized just yet.

Kind of an underwhelming fight and a complete step down in competition for Werdum; after coming off such an impressive win over Roy BIG COUNTRY Nelson you'd think he would've gotten somebody in the top 10 of the heavyweight division.

Yeah I'm actually rather disappointed in this choice for Werdum. He looked really good against Big Country and now he's going against Russow?

Thing is though, look at the UFC 146 card, most the top 10 are tied up fighting each other.

I guess theres Carwin, or Struve.

I would've perfered Struve, i guess this fight is heading to UFC 147 so he gets to fight in Brazil, but still.

Yeah... he would've had a better fight against Struve. Carwin woulda been nice if he is healthy by then. Russow just seems like a thrown together fight.
