Ex-UFC champ Jens Pulver signed for Cage Warriors 47 on MMAjunkie.com
Jens Pulver (25-16-1) has signed with Cage Warriors.
The European organization today announced it has signed the first-ever UFC lightweight champion to a deal that will see him fight exclusively for the organization in non-U.S. events.
His debut is tabbed for June 2 at Cage Warriors 47, which streams live on MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).
No opponent has been set for the fight, which takes place at The Helix in Dublin.
"I am very excited to work with Graham and to be a part of the international dominance that is Cage Warriors," stated Pulver, who will also make guest appearances and host seminars in conjunction with Cage Warriors. "I look forward to the fights and the appearances in the international venues. I plan to show the rest of the world why I was world champion and why I will be again."
Pulver, 37, made his pro debut way back in 1999. The PRIDE vet and fan favorite was the UFC's first lightweight champion after he defeated Caol Uno before title defenses over Dennis Hallman and B.J. Penn in 2002.
However, his UFC and WEC runs came to an end in 2010 during an overall 1-8 skid in pro competition. Although he announced his retirement at WEC 47, Pulver ultimately ruled against it and hit the regional circuit.
Pulver had put together a solid 3-1 run, which included a second-round TKO of Coty "Ox" Wheeler in August. However, in December, Timothy Elliot knocked him out with a knee at the debut Resurrection Fight Alliance event. It was Pulver's seventh career loss via knockout.
