XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) - A former Miamisburg police officer will spend some time in prison for convincing his lover to shoot her husband.
The victim says his wife used photographs of him as target practice while Mark Roysdon taught her how to shoot a gun.
Ed Severt describes Roysdon as a "scum bag".
Prosecutors say Roysdon encouraged Severt's wife, Leah, to shoot him.
"He actually had her hand the phone to me and the very last words he said to me before she pulled the trigger were I win," said Ed Severt.
Severt says Roysdon was having an affair with his wife. "Throughout the entire 6 months that Leah and Mark were having their affair, he came to me several times and said I am sorry for what I am doing. I am going to break up with your wife."
But the affair continued and on September 14, 2010 Severt's wife shot him in his ear and shoulder.
Roysdon pled guilty to inciting violence and was sentenced to 18 months in prison. He could have spent 3 years behind bars.
Leah Severt was sentenced to 4 years in prison.
The Severts' divorce was final on September 14, 2011, exactly one year after the shooting.
Ed Severt is filing a civil suit against Roysdon.
