EVOLVE will crown its first champion on April 5th at WrestleCon at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, NJ. We will now release the first significant information on the tournament:

Format:
-The EVOLVE Title Tourney will closely follow the NFL conference playoff format.
-This means the 1st and 2nd seeds will get byes.
-There will be two wildcard matches with the winners facing the 1st & 2nd seeds in the semi-finals.
-The winners of those two matches will fight in the finals to determine the first champion.
-It is possible that the lower seeded wildcard match will be a Freestyle, which would make getting a higher seed even more important.

Eligibility & Seeding:
-The seeding will be determined by a combination of Record and winning % with the EVOLVE Leaderboard used in tiebreaker situations. We understand there will not be a perfect system, and any issues will be resolved on the Dragon Gate USA events in California.
-A wrestler must have competed on no fewer than six (33% of total) EVOLVE cards to be eligible. This is to insure that the competitor has at least been a semi-regular over a span of time in EVOLVE.
-An exception to the 33% rule is the possibility of sending out an international invitation to the tournament.

We will have much more on the tournament in the upcoming weeks. This card has a special 4 p.m. start time and is at a great, centralized location. There will also be several non-tournament bouts on the card.

Agreed. Sami should take this. He'd work well as the face of Evolve. Taylor would also work but I am not sure if I'd like him as champion with his current jokester gimmick.

Sami said in his promo after the Gargano loss that "Evolve Title is the last resort", so that tells me he may take it.

Now that you mention it I remember that. That makes Callihan pretty likely. Who else do you think might take a spot? AR Fox seems likely considering his win/loss record.

I'd normally say Davis, but crowds don't care about him, and I think Gabe realizes that.

Yeah which is sad considering the monster push he had this year. One would think he'd be able to connect with the crowd with a push like that but he is such a charisma vacuum.

I think Taylor will be in the tournament, Generico and or Del Sol are also likely in my eyes, as well as Ricochet.
