» This past week, there was some major heat between WWE and Fighting Spirit, a magazine based out of the U.K. that covers professional wrestling as well as MMA. In the latest issue, the magazine printed a memo sent out by WWE to members of the video gaming press covering the upcoming SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 video game. WWE wants to control how the game is portrayed in previews. WWE told the video game press that they could not show any screenshots of the Superstars bleeding or using weapons. Additionally, WWE said in their memo that they aren’t allowed to show screenshots of digital Triple H “in a defenseless or vulnerable position.â€￾ WWE was said to be furious that the memo was published (I get the magazine, so I’ll post the memo in its entirety as soon as I get my copy). Additionally, Fighting Spirit defied order by posting a screenshot of Kane hovering over a vulnerable Triple H.

I don't think there's anything to say that hasn't been said already. Es tan estúpido.

I wouldn't be surprised if they found an excuse to fire Kane or at least stop his push from this.

I'm not surprised. Even in a game, you don't want your World Champion to look like a weak dipshit, I don't blame WWE for this.

» A young teen who posted a clip from Smackdown vs. RAW 2008 has been sued by WWE. The teen, who's identity is being withheld due to his age, posted a video of a match between Triple H and Kelly Kelly. Controlling Kelly Kelly, the teen's 8 minute video consisted of brutalizing Triple H with every move, both finishers, and every weapon. To end the clip, the teen had Kelly Kelly pin the bloodied Triple H, but break the pin herself, and instead forced Triple H to submit to a Boston crab. WWE is said to be furious, and is coming at the teen in full force. WWE wants to make an example of the teen, and has vowed to do everything in it's power to do so.

Ok not really, but give it a year and you'll see, it'll happen.

Still, it's all about the champion looking bad imo. People jump on the bandwagon because it's Triple H, but the WWE would've done the same if this was Orton or Edge in their respective reigns.

Althought sueing him and making an example of him, that is going overboard.

*wipes sweat off forehead* I thought that was real, until you put that. You don't now how long of a rant I was going to go on about that lol

Anyway, the memo thing is stupid. I can't believe WWE has gotten to the point where they don't want to show virtual wrestlers with weapons/blood. Are they really THAT kid friendly now?

The blood and weapons part is really stupid.

However, as for Triple H not looking weak, I agree. You didn't see pictures of Kurt Angle or Samoa Joe getting punished by Sharkboy on the advertising for the video game didn't you?

It's America, if you can sue someone for not having enough sauce in your sub sandwhich then you can do anything... even sue a kid who attacks Triple H using Kelly Kelly in a video game. :disgust1:

Isn't that too much? Come on be serious guys...

CMS, the problem is that WWE had to send a memo, trying to assert authority that they don't have. Fighting Spirit is not stupid - they know how to promote stuff and they weren't going to show pictures of Triple H getting mauled. But since WWE tried to act like Fighting Spirit is under contract or something, this is Fighting Spirit's way of saying "Yeah, GFY. You may make your employees piss in front of you, but you have no authority over us."

Wait... HHH is going to look weak because his video game counterpart is getting beat down? WOW, WWE really thinks that their fans are stupid.

Es tan estúpido.

I'm not saying that the WWE is not a little silly in the no Triple H stuff in trying to control how the game is portrayed in the media, but there is something you have to understand about life and it applies heavily to the video gaming community. Every company does it. I'm not even joking. IGN, Gamespot, GameInformer, etc they all get those type of memos not just from WWE, but from the NFL, the NHL, from UFC, from Disney to Sony Pictures etc, all with guidelines of what they are allowed to show. The fact is they do have the right to stop certain pictures from the game being shown. Its part of the agreement between the companies making the games and the companies reviewing the game. It goes further then that. Magazines, web sites and what not that review movies are sent screeners of the movies to watch so they can review them. They are also instructed on what scenes they are not allowed to show clips or pictures of, and parts of the story they are not allowed to go into detail of. Its a signed agreement. Now yeah that doesn't mean independent reviews of games, movies and other media should they be able to get there hands on a copy/screener/demo from an outside source can do whatever they want, but if you have gotten yours from a company involved in the production of the product part of the agreement for recieving it is to follow the guidelines. If you fail to follow the guidelines you can be sued as its a violation of the terms of the agreement. And most likely not only will that company never send you stuff ever again, but other companies may not want to either in fear that you might not follow there guidelines either.

Its about protecting your product. Making sure that the whole story, or whatever isn't given away. Becasue if they just show you and tell you ever detail of the movie, are you still going to want to go see it? Probably not. So you can make fun of this all you want, but the truth of the matter is, its common practice, it is within there rights to do so, and its smart buisness. As for this magazine, well I hope they can aford to have a major lawsuit, cause there going to lose if the WWE decides to sue.
