Ethan Page Not Expected to Resign with Impact

One half of the longest-reigning Impact Tag Team Champions may be done with the company in a few weeks.

As previously reported, Ethan Page's two year contract is up at the end of 2020 and in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the belief within the company and with his friends is that he is not going to re-sign.

On his YouTube channel last week, he posted a video from a set of recent tapings where in the end, he alluded to the fact he could be done, including a line asking his fans to wish him the best in his future endeavors because "I f**kin' need it."

In a singles match from Saturday's Final Resolution show, Page lost to Karl Anderson with a tag team title shot on the line for he and The North partner Josh Alexander. Meltzer said he was told Alexander has nine months remaining on his Impact deal so the team would be done for now. The duo are two-time Impact Tag Team Champions and held the titles for a record 380 days in their first reign with the second lasting 21 days.

Page started with the company with limited appearances in late-2017 and joined up with old partner Alexander as The North in April 2019.

Starting Tuesday, Impact has three TV shows left the rest of the year in which they could write Page off.

If I was Page I'd go to AEW and tell Khan he'll only sign with AEW if he's guaranteed to be reunited with Alexander in 9 months.

The North in the Dynamite Tag Team Title scene would just be another pillar in their growing division. North vs. FTR? Bucks? Lucha?

I don't know how much I really care about Page without Alexander. They have a dynamic that works great. On his own, I worry he's basically just another Ziggler/Miz type who talks a lot and does chicken shit heel antics. Could easily be wrong about that though. Whatever the case, it was a fantastic run for The North in Impact.

I know nothing of him without Alexander which is why I'm hoping he's negotiating for Alexander to be reunited with him in 9 months.

This right here. He’s great on the mic and has a good look but he’s an average wrestler being carried by a good wrestler. They have such great chemistry as I feel Alexander isn’t as good on the mic but is a far better wrestler.

I'll give him a chance on his own, he learned a lot durin' his run with Alexander. If he changes his gimmick up a bit somewhere else, I could see him havin' some solo success. We'll see how this goes.

Yeah Page leaving was not shocking and I feel for sure Page as a Tag Team Wrestler vs him on his own I rather have him as a Tag Wrestler. I remember when Impact had him rolling by himself nothing stood out for me to say he's going to be a mega star at that time. The moment those two tagged up his whole confidence change in the Ring and they became two time Tag Champions because of it. I wish him nothing of the best on his next journey as a Wrestler.

Damn, this sucks as really started to like The North, I thought they were one of the highlights for the company through out the year. Not sure how well he'll do on his own, i didn't find him all that interesting before he hooked up with Alexander tbh but wish him all the best regardless. As for picking AEW or WWE, I think he'll get lost in the pack in ether company sadly.

I don't watch NXT, although I check the results and watch wrestling with wregret, but do watch AEW and i got to mostly agree with you here. Lucha Brothers feel like just another team now in AEW (although with Death Triangle reformed/started hopefully they'll get a push) and Brian Cage just been wasted there, despite being FTW champ he feel like a after thought in team Tazz, behind Ricky and Hobbs. At least Killer Kross has been pushed as a big deal, like him or not.

To add to my previous post, if Ethan goes to AEW solo he gone struggle for air time I think and will end up like Matt Sydal has, being used as enhancement talent when he appears on Dynamite while winning jobber match's on Dark. If he goes to NXT he could at least get a better shake of the stick to stand out. As long as he drops that karate gimmick lol

Ethan Page, who is no longer with the company as he decided not to sign a new deal, which breaks up The North as a team since Josh Alexander has months left, has pulled all of his merchandise effective now. Pulling merchandise often is a prelude of going to WWE but there is nothing confirmed on that front
