So before tomorrow when Roy Hodgson picks his team for the tournament, I was hoping a couple of us could give it a go. 23 men, your choice.
GK
Foster
Carson
Ruddy
DF
Lescott
Jagielka
A.Cole
Baines
Richards
Walker
Cahill
Jones
MF
Gerrard
Lampard
Parker (if fit)/Carrick
Barry
Milner
Young
Lennon
Walcott
FW
Rooney
Welbeck
Crouch
Holt
A couple of notes:
- Ruddy will likely never play, but if you gotta take three keepers, us the third spot to give someone the experience
- Phil Jones will likely never kick a ball, but his versitility could come in handy
- The debate surrounding whether Rio/Terry can play together is ridiculous considering I'd take neither of them. Rio is too injury prone and Terry is destructive.
- Parker is apparently a doubt due to injury, big loss if he can't make it but we have plenty of cover.
- Anyone says Downing can leave the thread now.
- Holt = Wildcard pick. Unknown at international level, in form, other teams won't have a clue how to play against him.
- With Rooney out of the first two games, we'll need experience up front. Enter Peter Crouch. Decent season with Stoke, proven at international level.
