Edson Barboza meets Evan Dunham at UFC Fight Night 45 in Atlantic City
Another lightweight scrap will be on the bill when the UFC returns to “America’s Favorite Playground†this summer.
Edson Barboza (13-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) is set to meet Evan Dunham (14-5 MMA, 7-5 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 45 in Atlantic City, N.J. UFC officials announced the new booking on Tuesday morning.
UFC Fight 45 takes place July 16 at Revel Casino Hotel. The main event is a 155-pound bout between Donald Cerrone and New Jersey native and resident Jim Miller. The main card will air on FOX Sports 1 following prelims set to stream on UFC Fight Pass.
Barboza gets his next booking quickly after being stopped by Donald Cerrone with a first-round rear-naked choke at UFC on FOX 11 less than three weeks ago in Orlando. That loss snapped a three-fight winning streak for the Brazilian, who had rebounded from the first loss of his career with a submission of Lucas Martins, a TKO of Rafaello Oliveira and a “Fight of the Night†majority decision win over Danny Castillo in December to make him 3-0 in 2013.
Dunham also is coming off a submission loss to Cerrone. His took place this past November at UFC 167 in Las Vegas, giving him two straight losses and three setbacks in his past four fights – the lone win being a split call against Gleison Tibau at UFC 156. Dunham was expected to meet Mark Bocek at the TUF Nations Finale in April, but as first reported by MMAjunkie, he had to pull out of the fight with an injury.
With the addition, UFC Fight Night 45 now includes:
Donald Cerrone vs. Jim Miller
Edson Barboza vs. Evan Dunham
Pat Healy vs. Gleison Tibau
John Howard vs. Rick Story
John Lineker vs. Alptekin Ozkilic
Aljamain Sterling vs. Hugo Viana
