5.8-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes East Coast

An earthquake sent tremors from the nation’s capital to New York City Tuesday afternoon, the result of what officials said was a 5.8 magnitude earthquake based in Virginia.

There were no immediate reports of damage.

It is not clear how far the earthquake spread, but tremors were felt throughout New York City office buildings and as far north as Concord, N.H.

The streets of downtown Washington filled with thousands of people on Tuesday afternoon as buildings from the capital to the White House were evacuated.

A mild shake and tremble could be felt shortly before 2 pm. The movement lasted no more than 30 seconds in downtown Washington.

Fire alarms sounded throughout the downtown business district in Washington on an otherwise bright and sunny afternoon. There were no obvious signs of damage or disruption.

Along with the hurricane that is supposedly on its way is anyone worried about where their living or do you think the scare is over nothing?

Idk the hurricane kinda worries me, but i think it'll weaken and everything will be fine speaking of the earthquake though at my sisters work at Walmart, it shook that building and knocked a bunch of shit off the shelves and what not i didn't feel it where i'm at but she's closer to New York.

there has been an earthquake on the east coast before just not as often as on the west, the thing that i think is the most stupid is how the news was reporting the west/east coast comparisons via social media instead of the quake itself.

So far there have been 2 aftershocks, a 2.8 and a 2.2.
