Dustin Rhodes announced Saturday evening that 2023 will be his last year wrestling.

Rhodes made the announcement at Saturday’s Blizzard Brawl event for Great Lakes Championship Wrestling. Rhodes is currently signed to AEW.

Making his professional wrestling debut in 1988, Rhodes spent his early career in World Championship Wrestling as “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes. He joined WWE in 1995, portraying the character of Goldust for several years before rejoining WCW in 1999. He returned to the WWE in 2002 as Goldust and wrestled there sporadically through 2019. He also made appearances for Impact Wrestling.

Rhodes made his debut for AEW at Double or Nothing 2019, facing his brother Cody in a match that he ended up losing. Since then, he has appeared both as an on-air wrestler as well as a coach behind the scenes. His most recent match in AEW was on the August 24 edition of Rampage, where he lost to Claudio Castagnoli in a match that was for the Ring of Honor World Championship.

He’s had one hell of a fucking career. Surely will get that WWE HOF nod. Hopefully with Hunter in charge he can go in as Dustin.

Probably under-appreciated for how good he was. It's good that Dustin is choosing to retire instead of hanging on as some others do. Not sure how AEW will handle it with a retirement match or not but if they do I hope they make it feel special.

Give him one last world title feud against MJF, I say.

Wishful thinking but would love to see a retirement tour and hopefully a stop in the WWE. Doesn't have to be the absolute final show of the tour just one of them. With Hunter in charge its obviously more plausible than it was. Plus HOF induction in 2024.

Dustin was never given enough appreciation for how good he was in the Ring. I think now is the time to give him that appreciation.

Hell of a career. Very under appreciated worker in his younger years imo. HOF bound for sure.

And I’m sure he has a job for life backstage anywhere he goes if he wants

I would love a story of him trying to win the world title before he retires. Could be a fun TV World title match in between PPV between him and MJF
This or give him a run with All Atlantic Championship

He better be stuttering at his HOF induction.
