It's better, if possible, to adopt from those who breed and raise animals for a living.

Not all pet shops are this bad but most of them don't have people who know proper care for these animals to say the least. If you buy any, stick to fish and rodents. Never buy snakes or reptiles in general. I have only had issues. Go to specialty shops that bring in animals from breeders, not the wild.
