Does a win over Chris Jericho mean anything ?

He's jobbed to so many people but never seems to put them over, Dolph causing his contract to be terminated didn't really boost him. I love Jericho but I can't help but feel him jobbing is pretty pointless from a character progression standpoint.

Honestly, I don't think so. Did Punk and Dolph going over him really do anything for those guys?
Also, he seems to job a lot more than he wins nowadays.

I agree he has lost to so many people clean and has not had a big win for ages that going over him means very little.

If you're already on a certain point of the card, no. If you're lower than that yes. So for example, when Evan Bourne went over Jericho clean (lol) that boosted him iirc, until they dropped him after MITB as usual, but if Punk beats him it doesn't do much.

If you're unestablished then it's a HUGE deal. Even guys in between would get some recognition by going over Jericho (Barrett/Miz/Cesaro/Sandow). However, if you've won the WWE championship more than once, it really doesn't help your cause. Unless of course, you're trying to put on a fantastic match. In that case, everyone benefits by being in the ring with Chris.

Depends on who you ask. A casual/WM only viewer may say "holy shit he beat the Undisputed Champion", whereas the hardcore fans who watch every week will either say "Nice win, Jericho's glorified enhancement talent but it's still a worthwhile victory" or just judge them by the talent.

Either way, Jericho has "Ziggler syndrome" where despite seemingly non-stop jobs, it doesn't really hurt him terribly. That my friends, is what a great talent is.

The reason is because while Chris Jericho is a legend, he's never really been a top tier player on the same level of the likes of Austin, Rock, Triple H, Undertaker, Brock (his UFC career made beating him in WWE a bigger deal), Cena, etc so I'm not sure how much going over him really matters. I think his main strength is making people look good in the ring but that's not quite the same.

His obsession with putting so many people over has resulted in him not actually helping anyone. If he always loses, why would the crowd care if someone beats him?

It means something, yes. Maybe not to us, but it's not like Jericho is jobbin to a bunch of bums. He usually jobs to guys that will be future stars.

I'll have to agree with Seabs, they made him job too much that it doesn't matter anymore if he loses, he should only job to stars who got the potential to be huge stars in the future.
