DirecTV - making the leap

So, all my life I've had cable from Cox. I just signed up for satellite today. I got the same package basically, with Cloo replacing G4 (which I havent wanted in years), for a much cheaper price. I wanted to know from current subscribers, do you think their service is good. Also, is Direct Cinema sort of like Ondemand or Netflix?

* I'm still keeping Cox internet because they are the best in my area and the only ones who have the speed they advertise.

I passed on Dish Network because it didn't impress me at my friends house.

i have DirecTv it's pretty good i've had them for almost 4 years now. And yeah Direct Cinema you can rent new movies and what not.

That's cool. They told me Direct Cinema and HD was free for life when I signed up today. I just was wondering if I should be impressed. All I care about is USA, TNT, NBA TV, and the Nicks/Disneys/ESPNs. But it is nice to have that as a bonus.

Radioshack was pimping the hell out of the Blockbuster pass for Dish today when I went and checked out their prices. They were also offering a $50 gift card, but I really don't shop there nor care for how Dish's packages are constructed

Yeah it's all pretty sweet. I had Dish network before i got DirecTv and it sucked. I hated it and lost signal all the time. Would never switch back.

This is funny because I had direct tv for a while but had to go to Cox Cable T.V. It's a good move imo they got good channels and all. Since you had Cox maybe you can answer when it came to say Smackdown for example did it come on later than it was supposed to or came on, on time? Cause for some reason when I got cox Raw for whatever reason comes on 3 hours later than it's supposed to.

Raw was never late for me.

SD though got fucked during their MyTV period. I remember one SD getting postponed for a SEC basketball tourney and coming on the Sunday afternoon before and during the Rumble. I mean the second hour of SD and the first hour of the ppv were going at the same time.

There were other times SD got postponed on MyTV, but that was the worse. I was so happy with them going to SyFy?

If SU or LSU played on Friday, SD got fucked

The only stuff that seems to come on when it is supposed to since I've gotten Cox is sports stuff since it's live but so far Impact, Smackdown etc seem to come on a few hours later than it's supposed and it sucks.

Can you tell me what is with this whole east/west thing in their channel listings? I see Nick, Disney, Cartoon Network, and Ion all have E/W feeds.

The one thing I see that is intriguing is that you get to pay for LP in installments while Cox made you pay the whole fee up front. I got NFL Sunday Ticket for free, but I don't really care about football without Favre

The only reason I'm with DirecTV is because of the NFL Sunday Ticket, if it weren't for that I would defiantly be with Cox cable or Version Fios (If it's ever going to be available in my area) just because when there's a bad storm/snow the dish can start to act up and your left without cable.

They were selling it at school and Dish was being sold. They had their annual little market in the university arena.

Had to switch to Dish after research and finding out that Direct doesn't offer Cox sports which means all the Hornets games would be blacked out even with LP as would LSU, SU, and Saints.

Went with Top 250, 2 room hd dvr, 2 standard receivers, blockbuster movie and game pass for 12 months, 3 months of HBO/Showtime/Starz/Cinemax, RedZone, $25 guft card, and HD Free for life for $64.99.

Son of a bitch wanted a sell and I didn't let on that I wanted their service just as bad for those teams.

Hope the signal is good, my neighbor says his hasn't went out in storms because the same installers who will do mine reinforced the receiver into the ground and all our power lines in the neighborhood are underground.

Still will likely beat Cox who charged 95 for 160 channels and 2 receivers. They taxed the hell out of the bill to the point it was ridiculous
