Tbh I don't really agree that the Deadman gimmick was "stale" bc he had already reinvented that. I think it was still a needed change just from the culture change that was happening still but not really bc of staleness of the Deadman gimmick, but I do still agree the change should have happened regardless so it's just a little nitpick.
He did a good job reinventing it during the corporate ministry angle however my point was that in 96-97 when the attitude era was taking shape, you had people like Austin and DX getting over, the undertaker character stuck out like a sore thumb and just didn't belong.

I LOVED 97 Taker honestly lol I'll agree he stood out but I thought he was still great so we'll have to agree to disagree

One thing I think they did ruin was his retirement when he left his gear in the ring. It was such a great, emotional moment that made people feel like it was really over. Bringing him back just made that moment seem wasted and useless. I just thought it was so well done and powerful, and it’s now just nothing.
