Well its no secret these days that the WWE is lacking a whole lot of attitude. Some would say its a "family era" again, but IMO thats going too far.
You still have some pushing storylines (I think) and its not much different from 2005, but something just seems lacking. I dont know if its just that from watching old clips I see how much better it was or what, but I think the thing missing is the attitude.
So Im not gonna go on a rant about that, but I do have a question:
What do you think is the cause of this?
A-Could it be that there are no ideas left to do? Theyve completely run out?
B-Could it be that they are hesitant to put in another DXlike faction or Austin type character because people on the internet will critize them for reusing the gimmick (even though who doesnt want another Austin)
C- Could it be that they actually just think people enjoy this era more than 1998-2003?
D- Or could it be that with no more WCW and ECW they have no reason to push, so theyre content just sitting and having their product be mediocre because as of right now theres no major threat?
Or of course the other option.
State your opinion on why WWE doesnt have that same type of product before and vote in the poll as well:D

Interesting topic. Probably option D. I believe they are content doing what they're doing now. They've done the Attitude stuff and it mattered when it mattered, when there were needs to give your programming that extra bit of an edge. With WCW introdcing NWO and ECW with all their crazy extreme stuff, there was a need to step up. Nowadays there isn't a need. It's all WWE now.

There's also the family-orientated thing, obviously a route to make more money. Nowadays it isn't a fight for survival, it's now just about making the money!

The attitude ere was the shit and IMO the best time for watching wwe. but that ship has sailed and i doubt there will ever be another ere like the attitude ere for two reason IMO.

1st wwe has no one to compete with or fight for ratings its not like TNA or ROH are making wwe sweat like wcw did back in the day so they don't need to pull out shit now.

2nd wwe is more kids and family orientated now than what it was back then so you roll with the times and move on if you like it you watch if you don't then you switch over. There will never be another attitude ere. But even though its changed over the years i still love it.

Yes I agree with everyone else pretty much except that it's more they are worried about bad PR from reusing characters than not being worried...TNA really is already ahead of ECW (even if it is ECW) & they could catch up to Smackdown with this network jump looming IMO.

They've beaten them one time in the ratings. IDK if that would exactly classify them as being ahead of ECW, but sure...

And to answer your question, it's pretty simple if you ask me. They are just too afraid to take chances. Same with TNA. Do some over the top stuff. Make shit interesting. Give the fans a REASON to watch. With all the steroid stuff around and the Benoit thing still maybe looming over, I could understand them maybe not wanting to take as many chances, but do SOMETHING.

Yes, there is a lot of stuff that is missing at the moment and it's just those hard hitting edgier storylines and quick championship runs that made us sit on the edge of our seats to watch what happens next. They did do something good with Regal pulling the plug, Adamle walking off and Vickie Guerrero stripping the Undertaker but still it's nothing compared to the past. :disgust1:

As for the question itself, it's just that they have no competition at the moment. The attitude era itself occurred because they wanted to beat WCW in the Monday Night Wars, it would have not been there if there would have been no WCW, so I would personally choose option-D.

Option D They don't need to try so why waste good storylines when you don't need to use them? They have no opposition so just do what you want until you do have opposition which won't be for a long time, imo.

Option D.

They don't need to tell some fans to watch there show, besides for TNA, no one comes close to WWE.

So instead, they are focusing on making money, expanding there territory and Getting better TV deals so if they ever have to compete with something, WWE will be ready to kick there ass.

Other..

WWE has such a surge of new talent right now. I think the problem is that they're scared to use it. It's almost as if they're scared to usher in a new age with guys like Kennedy, Morrison, Punk, MVP....ect ect so instead they cling onto the remnants of the Attitude era and continue to make them their center pieces. Guys like HHH, Undertaker, HBK, Kane, Edge(although his time has just kicked in a believe, and well deserved) are all products of the Attitude era and still dominate every aspect of the company. The truth is that WWE won't be able to hold onto these guys for much longer..most of these guys are pushing into their 40's and their bodies are pretty much almost shot I'm sure. They need to stop worrying about putting these younger guys over these veterans and start ushering in a new age...try something new for a change. Because when you think about it...how did the Attitude era come about? Younger guys like Rock, HHH and so on taking the ball and running with it. It's time to let go of the safety nets and start building new stars because a lot of these guys have the potential to make something even greater than the Attitude Era or anything else we've seen in the WWE in a long time.

I agree with Noumenon in that WWE has the talent potential to be huge. Are they going to bigger than the attitude era any time in the near future? No. They are content with mediocrity and realize that they are the king of the hill right now. Option D.

The best thing that could happen to WWE is RoH and TNA. Are they close to WWE in any way? No. Will they ever be? Let's hope so for WWE, TNA, RoH, and our own sake.
