The trailer looked cringe, I wasn't going to watch this tbh.

I live in New York so I was lucky enough to see the Broadway show and it became one of my favorite shows of all time. The acting was amazing and I listen to the soundtrack all the time. The movie? It's not as bad as the critics say because of course they have to exaggerate but it's definitely not great. The movie does everything technically right, it's just one of those things where it's hard to translate to the story to screen. The story comes alive much better in live theater. I'm kind of sad the movie is bombing because I love the show, but it doesn't surprise me. I know the cast and crew really put their heart and soul into it so it's kind of sad to see their work go unappreciated but that's showbiz I guess. I enjoyed it for what it was regardless, but the live show was much better, oh well.
