The second reveal made by Lucas involved fan-favorite Darth Maul, as it turned out his impact will be found on The Clone Wars this year in a big way – as we meet his brother. Lucas spoke about Asajj Ventress, noting she came form a planet where a powerful class of women ruled, while the men live in an enclave. Darth Sidious turned one of these men into his apprentice, Darth Maul (yes, this is a scenario that will nullify some previous expanded universe stories). We saw a clip where Count Dooku meets with an alien woman who introduces him to Maul's brother, named Savaage (hopefully I have that spelling right!).

Carrying an ax like weapon, he is much larger and more physically imposing than Maul, with yellow skin and long horns, along with the same black face tattoos as his brother. Says Dooku, "He certainly is a sight to behold." The woman replies, "And the fiercest of his kind. He shall serve you well." Dooku simply states, "Yes, he shall," as Savaage kneels before him.

I'm very disappointed in the lack of originality for his name but he looks fucking badass. I haven't seen the clone wars but I hear its great. Now I will finally have to check it out.

We're talking about the cartoon here?

Nope its a new live action film. Doesn't it look like a cartoon? lol. Yes, this is the clone wars cartoon. btw not a star wars nerd at all(I used to be) but Darth Maul is just a badass and he saved episode 1(along with qui gon jinn). I now see how fucking dated the old movies are, the terrible decisions made in the movies, and can't believe how corny the old movies can be. Looking forward to seeing his brother and checking out the show which is supposed to be pretty good. As for him being a copycat, we will have to see. Apparently hes quite a bit bigger physically and uses different weapons. We will have to see how his character is but I am very glad he has the same badass appeal as his brother.

lol. I started watching the cartoon when it 1st came on. But I lost interest in it after a while. Maul's brother coming in might be enough for me to start watching again. Maul owned in SW: Episode 1

Killing Darth Maul was an even bigger mistake than the Ewoks being introduced in the original trilogy, IMO.

Who cares if he had a Scottish accent (Ray Park, who played Maul, is Scottish)? Most of the Imperial Commanders/Admirals had British accents, so why would it have been unbelievable for people to buy Darth Maul with a Scottish one? Maul should have lasted until Episode III, and battled Anakin for the Emperor's apprentice position.

I agree completely, Hauser. Watching Maul vs. Anakin would have been epic. I'm not a fan of how eps. 1-3 were structured at all.

I don't understand why Lucas is focusing on the Clone Wars. I find the cartoon to be boring and stopped watching after the first season. I'm much more interested in seeing the Empire take over post-Revenge of the Sith and the creation of the Rebellion, setting up for A New Hope.

Yes, but Ray Park played Darth Maul. He only mouthed like 3 lines because Lucas dubbed over his voice with that guy's^.

Darth Maul was interesting and if they had focused more of The Phantom Menace around his story and that of Palpatine's, as opposed to the time wasting, irrelevant Gungans, the series could have been saved. If Lucas hadn't been so greedy for kiddie merchandise sale$...

Well, I was under the impression that you were implying that he was mainly voiced by Ray Park. I guess not.

If only episode one wasn't raped by Jar Jar Binks and young Anakin Skywalker. It's still great to see Darth Maul but it could have been the best of the new trilogy. Not sure about him lasting throughout the rest of the trilogy, I found his end to be a worthy one after killing one of the most regarded Jedi's and then as a result of his new found ego, underestimating Obi Wan Kenobi to meet his end.

Could have been worse. They could have just named him Bob. What happened with Commander Cody? You have Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Count Dooku, Han Solo, Chewbacca...and Commander Cody. What the hell?!
