Darrell Montague vs. Will Campuzano joins Dallas’ UFC 171 lineup
The little guys will be part of March’s big UFC 171 lineup with Darrell Montague (13-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and fellow flyweight Will Campuzano (13-5 MMA, 0-3 UFC) now slated to fight at the event.
UFC officials today announced the fight.
UFC 171 takes place March 15 at Dallas’ American Airlines Center. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and MMAjunkie.
It’s not clear where Montague, who’s ranked No. 10 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA flyweight rankings, and Campuzano will be placed on the lineup.
Montague, a former Tachi Palace Fights champion, recently won four straight fights to earn a UFC contract. However, in his promotional debut at UFC 166, the 26-year-old suffered a first-round knockout loss to contender John Dodson. Prior to the defeat, Montague was on an overall 10-1 run (the lone loss came in a TPF title fight with Ian McCall).
Campuzano, a former UFC and WEC bantamweight, recently fought his way back into the organization after dropping to flyweight and winning five straight fights on the regional circuit. However, in a late-notice bout with Sergio Pettis, the 27-year-old suffered a unanimous-decision loss at UFC 167. He’s now winless in three UFC fights.
The latest UFC 171 card now includes:
Johny Hendricks vs. Robbie Lawler – for vacant welterweight title
Carlos Condit vs. Tyron Woodley
Hector Lombard vs. Jake Shields
Myles Jury vs. Diego Sanchez
Ovince St. Preux vs. Thiago Silva
Robert McDaniel vs. Tor Troeng
Alex Garcia vs. Sean Spencer
