Danny Castillo vs. Tony Ferguson booked for UFC 176 in August
Danny Castillo (17-6 MMA, 7-3 UFC) will join his Team Alpha Male teammate Chad Mendes as a part of the UFC 176 fight card when he takes on “The Ultimate Fighter 11†winner Tony Ferguson (15-3 MMA, 5-1 UFC) in a lightweight bout.
UFC officials today announced the 155-pound contest.
UFC 176 takes place Aug. 2 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The event’s main card airs live on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
It is unknown at this time if Castillo vs. Ferguson will be part of the preliminary or main card.
Castillo was last seen delivering a highlight-reel knockout against Charlie Brenneman at UFC 172 this past April. The victory marked Castillo’s sixth win in his past eight appearances and was his first knockout since 2011.
Ferguson is also coming off a knockout win, as he finished Katsunori Kikuno in the first round at May’s UFC 173 event. The 30-year-old is 2-0 since returning from a 17-month layoff due to injury. His submission of Mike Rio at UFC 166 earned him “Submission of the Night†honors and marked his 13th finish out of 15 overall victories.
The latest UFC 176 card includes:
Champ Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes – for featherweight title

Shayna Baszler vs. Bethe Correia
Jussier Formiga vs. Zach Makovsky
Fabricio Camoes vs. Gray Maynard
