Daniel Sarafian meets Kiichi Kunimoto at UFC 174 in Vancouver
The UFC’s return to Vancouver in June has its first official fight.
Daniel Sarafian (8-4 MMA, 1-2 UFC) will drop to welterweight for a fight against Kiichi Kunimoto (16-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at UFC 174. UFC officials announced the new fight booking Tuesday night.
UFC 174 takes place June 14 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. The main card will air on pay-per-view following prelims expected for FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Sarafian will venture away from his native Brazil and will be looking to rebound from a split-decision loss in November against Cezar Ferreira. His UFC debut in January 2013 was a split-decision loss to C.B. Dollaway. In between that fight and his bout with Ferreira, he submitted Eddie Mendez with an arm-triangle choke.
Kunimoto, from Japan, also will have a long trip to Canada. In January in Singapore, he won his UFC debut when Luiz Dutra was disqualified for landing elbows to the back of the head in the first round of their bout at UFC Fight Night 34. That extended Kunimoto’s winning streak to five fights.
