Strikeforce heavyweight-grand-prix champion Daniel confirmed that he has signed a deal with the UFC, but that it is a “shorter contractâ€￾ than usual. Cormier was slated to take on Mir at a scheduled Strikeforce event this past November, but Mir suffered a training injury and pulled out of the bout.

Now, “DCâ€￾ will be taking on heavyweight Dion Staring at the final Strikeforce event next month. â€￾DCâ€￾ reiterated hopes for a match with ex-UFC champion Frank Mir upon entering the promotion. He previously spoke with BJPENN.com stating

“I would stay at heavyweight, I want to fight Frank. I think Mir and I have some unfinished business, I put in a six week training camp for Mir before he pulled out a month before the fight. All the things I learned in that camp and I worked on I want to be able to use on him inside of the cage.â€￾

No surprise here, was also announced today that when Gilbert Melendez signs with the UFC he's getting an automatic title shot.

He had a big presence tonight at UFC 155. Was cornerman for Duffee and Velasquez, was shown in the crowd with Nate Marquardt and was part of the Fuel TV post show discussion panel. He confirmed again that he won't fight Velasquez so he would drop down to 205 instead to take a run at Jones. I wouldn't mind seeing him come in and fight JDS early on, maybe after the Mir fight.

Cool to see him in the UFC... but the fact that he doesn't wanna fight Cain is still very irritating.

I dont know him not fighting Cain might see him off to the LHW division. In that regard he's like Hendo except he's bigger, stronger and fights smarter, he'd be a real threat to Jones.
