MMAMANIA:

“He’s not the best pound-for-pound fighter, not even close, but he’s one of the four or five best heavyweights. But we all have to thank him for getting rid of Tim Sylvia. He’d been stinking out the joint the last couple of years and Fedor did everyone a favor by beating him so easily and getting rid of him.â€

UFC President Dana White has some harsh criticism for his former heavyweight champion, Tim Sylvia, saying that Fedor Emelianenko did “everyone a favor†by throttling him in 36 seconds at Affliction: “Banned†last month. “The Maine-iac†was granted a release from his contract after losing to Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro†Nogueira for the interim division title at UFC 81: “Breaking Point†earlier this year. He has indicated that he would like to return to the promotion in the future; however, perhaps he will change his tune after these latest remarks.

Personally, I was never a big fan of the man. He just wasn't the type of fighter that belonged in UFC. I am glad he isn't in UFC anymore, he wasn't THAT good. He was decent. I remember his fights with Arlovski, those were cool, but that's all he was good for.

Tim Sylvia is a strange breed. I don't dislike him at all. His trilogy with Arlovski was really good. No, I've often wondered how he's lasted this long. He looks very awkward throwing punches and can't seem to kick very well. Randy Couture abused him in a way that should be present in every Sylvia fight.

I give the man credit for his training team and perseverance. BTW, he has one of the weirdest looking bodies I've ever seen.

Yea dude I know. I can't really tell if Sylvia is in the best shape he can be or not. Like if he trained his ass off, he wouldn't look like that.

I just watched UFC 48 today and it was the first fight Sylvia had after testing positive for some type of HGH. Not only did he look a little soft but Frank Mir also broke his arm. Now he looks like he did 5 years ago and I wonder if he's doing something. I really hope not because MMA is supposed to be the relative safe haven from roids.

I remember when Mir broke Sylvia's arm. That was a sick pop in the armbar, omg.
