Lesnar makes a believer out of Dana White
By Steve Cofield

UFC president Dana White was at a loss for words in the UFC 87 post-fight press conference when asked about Brock Lesnar. Lesnar handled veteran Heath Herring easily winning 30-26 on all three scorecards.

White said on Thursday that he didn't agree with Lesnar's notion that he should fight the best right off the bat in UFC. Three days later White is a Lesnar convert.

"I'm telling you I'm blown away by his performance tonight," said White. "One of our guys said it looks like he's hitting him with lunch boxes. The guy is a phenomenon. I'll be honest, I didn't think he could come in here with no fights and compete at this level, he proved me wrong."

It sounds like most of the fighters are also on board with Lesnar's potential:

"After that first fight against Mir, I had all the guys come up to me... Hughes, Liddell, Rampage and said this guy is going to be scary in a couple of years. He's a monster. I don't know what guys are going to want to fight him."

The word swirling around the media room was that UFC may try to make a Cheick Kongo-Lesnar fight next.

Personally, I would like to see Brock versus Kongo next. Nice to see that he is getting the attention and respect of some big name MMA veterans.

lol, even Chuck Liddell expects big things out of him...wow.

@ Kongo. He would get annihilated.

Kongo is a good fighter, but nothing compared to Lesnar. Brock is just one big bastard. Technique doesn't work against Lesnar, the only thing that can stop Lesnar is someone bigger than him. Although, I would love to see Lesnar vs. Kongo just for the fact that I follow Kongo.

Yea that's his next rumored opponent, but now there is talk of Kongo. I think Coleman is still injured, isn't that why he couldn't fight Lesnar the first time?

Im not a UFC wis-kid by any means, but wasn't Kimbo treated similarly? I'd be all for Slice vs. Lesnar, if that can even happen.

lol, either that would be really cool or that would straight up bomb. Kimbo isn't the best on the block and Lesnar is even better than Kimbo is. I say keep them as far apart as you can.

Lesnar vs. Slice would generate the best PPV Buy rates in the history of UFC.

Kimbo treated similarly? not really. take a look at who each has fought;

Kimbo
Bo Cantrell
Tank Abbot
James Thompson

Lesnar
Min Soo Kim
Frank Mir
Heath Herring

Kimbo has been thrown cans for his first 3 pro fights, Lesnar's last two fights (only 2 UFC fights) have been against legitimate talent, including a former champion. I don't see this as Kimbo's fault though. Elite went one way with their "next big thing", giving him fairly easy to win matches, while UFC threw Lesnar to the wolves.

wtf!!! i like kongo :( but i know he'll get hiss ass beat by lesnar lol

True words about Kongo. Good fighter but Lesnar would destroy him. The worst thing is these guys are good fighters who we are talking about and then when you put their name next to Lesnar's they look like jokes but that just shows Lesnar's dominance.

I have been wondering this since the rumors of Kongo emerged and maybe some of you can help me with this.

Do they decide to go through with Kongo vs. Lesnar to give Brock more learning experience and have the chance of Kongo getting the upset? Or do they wait and do what they originally planned with Coleman for that would be the bigger money fight of the two?

Because last year proved to us that upsets really do happen. Jardine over Liddell, Gonzaga over Cro Cop ect. So do you really want to run the risk of putting Lesnar in with Kongo? Plus what if Coleman goes off and takes another fight and loses. They would lose the Coleman/Lesnar fight and a lot of money. So I am having trouble determining which way the UFC will go. Any thoughts from anyone else?

I think they would still book Coleman if he is able to compete. It doesn't get any bigger than Brock Lesnar vs. UFC Hall of Famer.

Kongo would be the second choice though.

You have to also consider that Kimbo is a very unrefined fighter. He's a street fighter. No formal art or training. Brock, well, we know his story. I think EXC was trying to see if he could even handle real MMA fighters. If they continue this trend then Kimbo will disappear.
