Cristiano Marcello vs. Joe Proctor slated for UFC Fight Night 36
A lightweight bout between Joe Proctor (8-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Cristiano Marcello (13-5 MMA, 1-2 UFC) is the latest addition to February’s UFC Fight Night 36 event.
UFC officials today announced the bout.
“UFC Fight Night 36: Machida vs. Mousasi†takes place Feb. 15 at Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The event’s main card airs live on FOX Sports 1 (instead of FOX Sports 2, as was originally announced) following prelims on MMAjunkie.
It’s not clear where Marcello vs. Proctor will be placed on the lineup.
Proctor, a quarterfinalist on “The Ultimate Fighter 15,†was on a four-fight winning streak, which included a knockout win over Jeremy Larsen in his official UFC debut. However, in his most recent bout, the Massachusetts-based fighter suffered a unanimous-decision loss to Ramsey Nijem at UFC on FOX 5. Due to injuries, Proctor now fights for the first time in 14 months.
Marcello also looks to rebound from a recent loss. After a 4-1 run that included a stint on “TUF 15″ and a split-decision victory over Reza Madadi at UFC 153, he suffered a unanimous-decision defeat to Kazuki Tokudome at UFC on FUEL TV 8 in March. The Brazilian now returns from an 11-month layoff.
The latest UFC Fight Night 36 lineup now includes:
Lyoto Machida vs. Gegard Mousasi
Francis Carmont vs. Ronaldo Souza
Cristiano Marcello vs. Joe Proctor
