England are hosting Australia for a random five match ODI series. I see no reason for these five ODI's and they are a great example of too much cricket. Don't get me wrong, I love watching cricket but series like this aren't needed as the market is already overloaded with cricket each year.

Anyway, Australia are playing a ODI against Ireland tonight as a warm-up before facing England. Australia batted first and scored a modest 231 with Tim Paine top-scoring with 81. In reply Ireland started well put have suffered a huge collapse. They went from 3-137 to 156-9. Harris and Hauritz both have two wickets whilst Hopes has 5-11 from eight overs which is outstanding. Before this match he had never taken more than three wickets in and ODI match.

Confusing selections by Australia so far. In the first ODI we debuted a 19 year old fast bowler despite Clint McKay being in the squad. In the second we select two spinners although we did have injury concerns. Our depth is an issue since Ryan Harris and Nathan Hauritz are both injured with Hauritz flying home. Shaun Tait is in and will add some much needed experience to the pace attack.

England have been too good in the first two matches and our top order batsman and our bowlers need to stand up and deliver for the last three matches. Hopefully we don't suffer anymore injuries though as we have some test matches coming up.
