Conor McGregor vs. Cole Miller possible for UFC Fight Night in Dublin
Conor McGregor and Cole Miller may get a chance to settle their beef when the UFC returns to Dublin.
The lightweights, who have lobbed numerous insults and callouts at each other over the past half year, could be matched up at the upcoming event, which takes place July 19.
Although UFC President Dana White said a headliner hasn’t been determined for the show, which is likely to stream on UFC Fight Pass, he’s pretty sure Ireland’s McGregor will be part of the lineup.
“We don’t have anything yet (for the main event),†White said. “But I’m pretty confident Conor will be on that card, so we’ll see what happens.â€
Since his UFC arrival in 2013, McGregor (14-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has verbally sparred with numerous fighters in the 145-pound division. After a 2-0 UFC run, which pushed his current win streak to 10 fights, McGregor was sidelined following knee surgery, but the verbal jousting has continued.
One fighter who’s jabbed back is Miller (21-8 MMA, 10-6 UFC), who – despite fighting and ultimately submitting Sam Sicilia – spent much of his pre- and post-UFC Fight Night 35 media attention to call out McGregor (as well as Donald Cerrone) in January. Additionally, back in October, after earning a decision victory over Andy Ogle, Miller used his post-fight interview to call for a fight with “Colin McGoober.â€
Although McGregor recently said he’ll fighting anyone, he made special mention of Miller.
“I’m going to talk to Dana and Lorenzo (Fertitta) tomorrow, and Sean Shelby, as well, and see what happens,†he said this past Friday when asked about the Dublin event. “Who knows. I’ll whoop Cole if they want in Dublin, no problem.â€
As for the UFC’s plan with McGregor?
“It’s a possibility (he’d fight Miller),†White said.
