While upgrading my oldschool desktop I inadvertantly disconnected a part.

Dell K9707 XPS 600 Gen5 Front USB Audio I/O Panel

I disconnected the black wire any idea what it does (I assume something to do with the power button) or where it goes so I can Party like it's 2005 once again. In all seriousness I've upgraded the computer quite a bit and would like to keep it since its doing a damn good job.

Anyone?

It looks your audio port that you usually find towards the bottom of the tower given the connections on the front. Headphone / mic jack and i'm presuming the other two are USB and Firewire.

I'm not even entirely sure you'd need to reconnect to be honest if you don't use the front ports. Failing that, find your motherboard manual or the manual for this part and it'll likely say where they connect to even though it should be straight forward to reconnect without looking anything up.

It's not on the Manual or the shitty schematic of the motherboard in there. It seems to be the only thing that has become disconnected since my inability get get power to the machine.

Well if it's not currently getting power to the machine with this part in, it should be pretty straight forward in just adding it back in as there's only going to be a limited of places those connectors can go.

I've still not solved the issue of where that connector goes really looks like it' has nowhere to go but the power issue was simply that it'd come unplugged when I moved it.

Really not sure then because the picture is too small to tell the connectors and I don't know what motherboard you've got.

Isn't that just the part that goes on the front side of the tower? Can't you just use the ports in the back?

But yes, very small picture and no way of knowing for sure unless I can see the tips of those two wires. If your fan's power supply is through your motherboard as some Dell's are, I would look near that area for connections.
