The 65-year-old was hospitalized on March 14 after he had a heart attack in a Texas bar.
Just 11 days after he was hospitalized when he suffered a heart attack at a Texas bar, comedian Gallagher had another minor heart attack.
On Sunday, the 65-year-old, whose real name is Leo Anthony Gallagher Jr., was taken to an Arizona hospital where he is awake and resting, a rep for Gallagher confirms to The Hollywood Reporter.
Christine Scherrer told THR that the comedian hadn’t been feeling good earlier in the day, and on Sunday afternoon he suffered a minor heart attack. “It was fairly mild,†she said, adding that the minor attack may have been related to the previous one he suffered about two weeks ago. Scherrer adds that his family is with him at the Sedona hospital.
On March 14, Gallagher was heading toward the stage at the Texas bar with another person when he suddenly collapsed. He was taken to a hospital close by. He was placed in a medically induced coma for a few days.
The comedian, known for smashing watermelons onstage, recently said that he will be retiring from on-stage shows, adding that he plans to focus on other projects.
"I decided that this is enough. I have 32 years of live performing, and so I'm looking for just some little stuff, like retirement things, I 'd like to show up at maybe company parties," Gallagher told DJ Scott Spears Thursday in his first interview after the heart attack during Over Breakfast With Scott Spears on 97.5FM WDCM radio in Marion, Ohio.
The comedian had suffered a minor heart attack one year ago while onstage performing in Minnesota.
