Not a huge fan of the shadow type thing going on with the multiple renders at different opacities it's always seemed cheap to me in anything not just sigs. The backgrounds looking pretty good but I'd say you've almost got the broken glass effect too much. Need to have bare spots so that it looks like glass not a cobweb.

The next step should be learning how to implement lighting. You should also put renders underneath gradient maps and play with the blending mode on gradient maps.

The background is really compelling, and the font works well. However, it falls apart with the render. The multiple render effect doesn't really work. As Defiant said, the lighting just doesn't work, and a gradient on it would definitely help the flow. Good but would be great if you played with the render.
If I had to suggest anything, I'd shrink this down, drop it to one render, and a light black/white gradient to the render and play with the lighting.
7.5/10.

It's a bit better, but I still don't think it captures the full potential of the banner. Maybe a full black and white gradient on the render might work?

The first one would look much better of you would put a black & white color sheme on it and play with the contrast a bit. 7/10
