Big news coming from the CM Punk front, as it appears that the former WWE champ may be in worse shape than initially reported.
According to F4WOnline (via WrestleZone.com):
As reported last week, CM Punk has been taken off WWE Live Events up until WrestleMania. This has been done as a precautionary measure to protect and heal him more for his match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania. F4WOnline.com is now reporting that Punk has been taken off all live events in the month of May and is not scheduled to appear at Extreme Rules. Extreme Rules is on May 19th from St. Louis, Missouri.
Now, one has to wonder if the company has yet to release its May touring roster or if Punk truly needs more time to heal. After watching the match with Kane, I personally did not notice any out-of-the-ordinary spots that could cause such a serious injury. That being said, I am not a wrestler, nor am I in the business, so I truly can't say what could have caused this.
Ultimately, Punk has been carrying the WWE torch for close to two years now and has done a solid job as both a face and a heel. Granted, he didn't garner John Cena-type ratings, but he did give his all during his time as WWE champion.
Keep in mind, the WWE usually doesn't make these types of decisions without some sort of merit. So it is quite possible that Punk needs some time off to get back into his normal fighting shape. Ultimately, I wouldn't be surprised if we come to find out that Punk had been hurting prior to his match with Kane.
The fact is, he has worked injured before and always does his best to ensure that the fans get what they paid for.
