On Smackdown HHH announced that Punk signed a new deal but in an interview with ESPN Punk said he signed a new deal as well and that he signed it the day on the MITB PPV. So he was gone but WWE finally offered him something he couldn't refuse and he signed with them again.

I for one am glad that he has stayed on with them but I hope that WWE don't burn him out and give him some good time off in the near future. It sounds like Punk now has the ear of Vince and will get to offer a lot more opinions on who is being used and even who is being signed. Hopefully Colt Cabana is given another deal.

Vince had to break a policy apparently... CM Punk wanted 'Living Color - Cult of Personality'. Words have it that Vince had to pay royalty rights for the song to be used.

With how big this angle is it needed something special and the new song was the right choice. WWE do that every now and then for big angles, like Undertaker at WM this year. It shows that Vince may finally have seen that Punk is a big deal and that he should be treated like a top guy. Punk has had all these outside interviews with companies like GQ and ESPN so he has shown that he can break the boundaries and get outside media interested in WWE and that is money to Vince.

CM Punk is a genius, 'nuff said.

I love the new song and I happen to play it at least twenty times a day now. Even put it on a CD and blasted it through town, a few people actually did CM's Nexus Salute towards me LOL

Good for Punk, he has worked as hard as anyone to get where he is, and he knows his worth, and having got what he wanted, now WWE are sure that they will get the hottest talent in business at his best for years to come. As long as they build on what has been happening with him over the last month, and keep things fresh, then I don't think he will regret his decission. Would still like to see him make the odd ROH appearence when he is not onscreen for WWE.

Question is...

Did Vince allow CM Punk to keep his Copyrights to the name CM Punk because I heard numerous times that was the reason why he didn't want to stay with WWE because they would of taken the CM Punk name away from him.

This is brilliant though, shoulda guess he wasn't leaving when he win the WWE Championship XD!

I listened to the whole Punk ESPN interview with my hero Bill Simmons ( best blog guy in the world). Both guys connected well and Punk put out all the information. I am a fan of the new entrance song, although This Fire Burns will be missed.

I am 100% sure that Punk has kept the copyrights to his name. Punk would never let WWE have them, Punk already said that he had enough money to never work again so he wouldn't have signed his name away to them.

Doubt he would've signed if he didn't get the rights to CM Punk. He would've still been the hottest commodity in pro wrestling and would've broke the bank anywhere else.

And WWE pays the rights to every song they get. Notice how old dvds cut out older songs because the bands got too big to pay royalties to.

Most WWE themes are created by Jim Johnston so there is no need to pay royalties since it is WWE created.

A good example was Undertaker's entrance at WM this year was edited on the DVD to go back to his normal music.

Really does he still do most of the music, I know he used to, but I thought nowadays they used mostly popplar chart bands.

Jim Johnston is a vastly underrated composer. He has produced, written and performed many great tracks.

I have not watched wrestling in forever now, but I have kept my ear close to the ground for this angle. It seems solid and the fact that Punk is basically given his "indie gimmick" is off the chain. His entire tirade from the beginning straight down to him using Cult of Personality again has made this pretty entertaining to follow. Not to mention he has gotten the IWC talking and by breaking the fourth wall has everyone involved. Love it.
