BOSTON -- A child was in serious condition after being accidentally strangled in his home Thursday, Boston police said.
Police said the child, believed to be about 9 years old, was playing with his brother at a home in the 200 block of Centre Street in Jamaica Plain when a jump rope became wrapped around his neck and he fell or jumped off of a bunk bed on which he was playing.
The boy was taken to Children's Hospital. He was listed in serious condition and attached to a ventilator, police said.
His mother was home at the time the boy was hurt.
