Cheick Kongo has joined the ever-growing list of fighters released by the UFC, according to Alden Halpern of MMA Elite.
"I am sad to report that Cheick Kongo was released by the UFC today," Halpern posted on Twitter.
Kongo (18-8-2) was defeated by Roy Nelson most recently, falling to 11-6-1 in his Octagon career. The 37-year-old debuted with the organization in 2006, and went 4-2-1 in his last seven fights.
On his own Twitter page, the only post Kongo has made since news of the release was made public said, "LOL."
Quite honestly, Cheick Kong isn't losing a tearshed from me. Considering at The Ultimate Finale: Carwin Vs Nelson he turned down fights against both Roy Nelson and Matt Mitrione he obviously didn't really show the desire to want to fight, and that's what people go in the UFC for.
