Chael Sonnen, from his hosting chair on the set of "UFC Tonight," has confirmed the main event for the debut of FOX Sports 1.Sonnen will face Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC On FS1 1 in the main event from the TD Garden in Boston.

The two were nearly signed to meet next weekend, but visa issues forced Sonnen to not accept the fight. Rua was originally scheduled to face Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, but he pulled out with a disc injury.

Sonnen was defeated by UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones in his return to 205 pounds, while Rua lost to Alexander Gustafsson last year.

I'm pretty glad we get to see this fight happen, this is also turning out to be one hell of a free card. Here's the current slate of fights

Chael Sonnen vs. Mauricio Rua
Alistair Overeem vs. Travis Browne
Thiago Alves vs. Matt Brown
Michael McDonald vs. Brad Pickett
Urijah Faber vs. Yuri Alcantara
Conor McGregor vs. Andy Ogle
Uriah Hall vs. Nick Ring
Joe Lauzon vs. Michael Johnson
Mike Brown vs. Akira Corassani

Pretty solid card, just get rid of Faber.

Shogun - Sonnen will be interesting. All depends on if Shogun can avoid the takedowns before he gases halfway through the first round.

I'm rather liking this card. I of course was hoping to see Wandy vs. Sonnen... but Shogun should be good. As long as Shogun doesn't gas too quick.

That is a great free card, UFC wanting to put on a good showing for the first show on the new channel. If this fight goes the distance Sonnen wins, Shogun just hasn't been the same since that knee injury.

But Shogun did last all 5 rounds against Hendo.... although Hendo wasn't looking to fresh by round 5 either and I'm pretty sure that Sonnen could push the pace for all 5 rounds. Shogun gotta finish it quick with those heavy hands of his.
