Has Chad Ochocinco been hit in the head too many times?

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco has been playing pro football almost as long as UFC middleweight champion Anderson “The Spider†Silva has been fighting professionally.

There is no doubt that Ochocinco is an elite level athlete. There is also no question that over the last decade he has taken some big hits, and most likely, a few big hits too many as it appears a few screws have been rattled loose in his head.

What else could explain a man in his position, with no MMA experience whatsoever, thinking he could actually step into the Octagon with the man widely-regarded as one of the best (if not THE best) pound-for-pound fighters to ever compete in mixed martial arts?

Ochocinco explains his uh… game plan:

“I know he’s very good at what he does. But let’s not be fooled, I’m one of the elite athletes in the NFL. I’m very fast and very quick and I don’t know… I just can’t go to the ground with him. And I can’t be within his reach either. So maybe I can just run around the ring the whole damn time.â€

UFC President Dana White made the comment on Twitter last week that he was ready to put the fight together whenever Ochocinco was ready for it.

Whether White would actually follow through on the promise or it is all in jest remains to be seen. One would assume it is in jest. After all, he also said he would set up a fight in the Octagon with Charlie Sheen and Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre.

However, Ochocinco said he is serious about it and is just “crazy enough†to do it.
