Who was the first man/women/person to create the idea of wrestlers having "finishers?" The thought dawned on me so I was wondering if anyone here actually knows.
Well the idea of a finisher probably came around the same time Ed "Strangler" Lewis was figuring out he could lose and win it back and the fans liked it more. I think they came out a lot when it became mostly entirely a worked sport in the 1950s and 60s. Bobo Brazil had a signature move where he would slap guys in the face with his feet. I actually think he was one of a few who had one when it was legit. Frank Gotch had a "dreaded" step over toe hold he almost cripped German champion George Hackenschdmit with. Someone else back then also used a bear hug to actually crack peoples ribs. So its either Gotch with this step over toe hold or Eddie (WISCONSIN W00000000000T) with the first ever sleeper hold.
