According to a report by MMAjunkie.com, a rumored heavyweight battle between Cain Velasquez and Antonio Silva appears to be just that, as a source confirmed to the site that the fight is not happening.

Silva, however, is still likely to make his UFC debut in April from Atlanta, Georgia at UFC 146. An opponent is unknown at this time for the former Strikeforce competitor.

Velasquez has been out of action since dropping the UFC heavyweight title to Junior dos Santos this past November. The loss was the first of his career, as dos Santos finished him early in the first round via knockout.

Probably for the best, Not too sure who else they could get for him. I know it's a long shot, but the other day Shane Carwin said on twitter that he was going back into training and was looking for a spring return to the UFC.

Now about Cain Velasquez, i just found this

Although there is no confirmation, Bloodyelbow radio reported last night that Cain Velasquez may instread fight Frank Mir at UFC on Fox 3 on May 5th - Ccinco de Mayo.

This fight would make sense, especially given the day and with a possible Manny-Mayweather fight happening on the same day, it would be a smart move by the UFC.

Carwin vs. Silva would be a better fit for Silva... specially to see Carwin drop those bombs and drop him for the count. Then Mir vs. Cain.... mannnn that would be awesome. Cause if Mir can get the win it would definitely put him up there for contention and he won't be seen as just another gate keeper. Mir still got a lot of fight left in him. Plus for Cain... he needs a real good win after the way he went out.
